This field site is located on State Forest just south of St Helens. It is an area dominated by dry sclerophyll forests of Tasmanian ironbark with patches of wetter forest containing stringy bark, blue gum and white gum in the gullies. Parts of this forest were clearfelled in 1989 and interesting comparisons between these areas and adjacent old forests can be made.

Three stops, with descriptive notes are identified. The teacher guide also contains a plant species guide for this area.

Suitable for: One hour to half day visits

Suitable to: Primary and secondary students
