Forest in a Box – Inquiry Cubes 

The Inquiry Cubes are a hands-on metacognitive thinking tool designed and made in Tasmania. The Cubes help students to activate their prior knowledge and connections to forests, engage their critical thinking skills and participate in collaborative problem solving. The illustrations are designed for interpretation, allowing all students to participate in a dynamic provocation regardless of their reading ability.
The Cubes have been designed to provoke a range of inquiries in the Geography (HASS) and Science areas of the Australian Curriculum, with strong connections to the cross-curriculum priority of sustainability.

Forest in a Box package includes:

• 5 wooden Inquiry Cubes, each with their own unique set of 5 illustrations
• Teacher Guide with curriculum links, a step-by-step guide and optional activities/templates
• Complimentary loan (for interested classes participating in an excursion or incursion program)
• Supporting incursion where desired
